Halloween Moon Crabs

Looking to buy a Halloween Moon Crab? Gecarcinus quadratus is one of the most visually stunning land crabs in the hobby known for its bold orange legs, deep purple carapace, and glowing yellow eyes that give it its spooky nickname. It’s not just a showpiece. These tropical crabs are full of quirky behavior, making them a favorite among exotic pet keepers.

Each Halloween Moon Crab we offer is field collected, health screened, and acclimated for strong, confident behavior in captivity. These crabs prefer a spacious enclosure with deep, moist substrate for burrowing, plus a shallow water dish and plenty of hiding spots. They are nocturnal and highly active when conditions are right.

Adults typically reach 3 to 5 inches across the shell and can live several years with proper care. These crabs do best in a warm, humid environment with both dry land and fresh water access. While generally solitary and territorial with other crabs, they make engaging display pets and thrive when handled minimally and left to explore.
