Looking to buy a Suriname Toad online?
The Suriname Toad (Pipa pipa) is one of the most unusual amphibians in the world, famous for its flat, leaf-like body and bizarre reproductive strategy. Native to slow-moving rivers and streams across northern South America, females carry developing young in pockets on their backs until fully formed froglets emerge — a fascinating adaptation that makes this species truly unique.

In captivity, Suriname Toads require a fully aquatic setup with a large, filtered tank, gentle current, and plenty of swimming space. They thrive on a diet of live foods such as earthworms, small fish, and aquatic invertebrates. This is a rare and advanced species best suited for dedicated amphibian keepers with experience maintaining specialized aquatic environments.
